Felix Pachon began his journey in the world of canine training at the age of 13 in Bogota, Colombia. Him and his Rough Collie “Tracker” began training in Obedience and Agility under the tutelage of some of the best Instructors in Colombia in the late 90’s. In a very organic fashion the Instructors detected the dedication and resilience that Felix applied to the training of his dog which led to them teaching him how to successfully compete in Obedience trials as well as how to perform in front of a live audience. This level of commitment as well as great student-teacher relationship led to much success in the local canine training scene in the form of winning Obedience trials as well as making appearances on live television. In the early 2,000’s Felix returned to the state of Arizona in the U.S. where he was introduced to working dog training as well as different dog sports such as IPO/Schutzhund, PSA, and Ringsport. This provided Felix with an opportunity to learn from some of the best American trainers and breeders which led to a very deep understanding of genetics, breeding, evaluating puppies, imprinting, building drive and focus as well as the proper techniques to develop grip, targeting, and countering on a dog. Upon completing his college studies Felix decided to solidify his position as a professional in the canine world by attending Tarheel Canine in Sanford, North Carolina in order to pursue his degree as a Police K9 Instructor. This provided Felix with an immense amount of knowledge and skill on Scenario-Based Training, Scent-Detection, Tactical Applications, E-Collar, Weapons as well as Technical Decoying. Upon graduation Felix returned to Arizona where he immediately started Proving Ground Kennels; providing Obedience, Behavior Modification, Family Protection, and Agility to residents of the Phoenix-Metropolitan area as well as conducting seminars and workshops for local Law Enforcement and MWD’s. Since the inception of Proving Ground Kennels there has been no halt in the evolution of Felix as a K9 Instructor, his extreme drive for learning has allowed him to travel the world learning from a wide variety of Police K9 and DogSport Instructors in nations such as Germany, Holland, Belgium and Spain. Felix currently resides in Tempe, Arizona with his retired Malinois “Ax” and his new puppy “Nomad”.
